Dear Aspirants...
You may not face lot of problem in this section but still computer section should not be ignored. We should get maximum marks in this section.
Let’s know basic concepts first...
Computer is divided into Hardware and software. Hardware is set of those components which can be touched while software is digital ... it can’t be touched.
I think it’s better to discuss important concepts of computer here.
Do you know what Compute intensive is?
Okk...
Next question is...
What is difference between Compute - intensive
And
ComputeR - intensive?
Difference is only of *R* ...
Compute - intensive means those applications which require fast computation.
E.g.: Supercomputer
Whereas...
ComputeR – intensive means those applications which require huge storage.
EG: Mainframe Computer.
I think it’s clear now. Let’s move to more computer concepts.
Do you know what’s difference between Routers ...Switches ...
Hubs ... Servers ... Workstations?
Imagine there are many computers in a network...
Suppose data is going from A to Z computer via B, C, D ... to Y computers.
If we want data should not reach to Z computer... It should reach up to Y computer then we can use *Switch* between Y and Z computers.
If switch is on then data will reach. If switch is closed then data will not reach. Simple...
*Router* shows direction where data should go i.e. it directs where data should go.
*Servers* are powerful computers to do some specific tasks. Many times we say that server is down that means the task can’t be fulfilled.
Generally data starts from one server and reaches to many *workstations* ... Workstations are simply computers in networks.
To understand about *Hub* ...
Let’s understand 2 basic terms...
1. Multiplexer : It converts data from many lines or computers into a single line. (Many into one.)
2. Demultiplexer : It converts data from one line into many lines.
(One into many.)
Hub is that device which is either a multiplexer or demultiplexer.
