Q2: (Latest Pattern Question):

In the following paragraph there is one blank space. Below each sentence has been denoted by numbers (1), (2), (3), (4) and (5). Find out which sentence can be filled up in the blank to make the paragraph meaningfully complete.

Answer: (3) It seems once popular kirana shops of the city are fading away from the minds of people

Explanation: Looking at the flourishing big retails stores under one roof, *It seems once popular kirana shops of the city are fading away from the minds of people* as Great Indian Retail Shows’ most transparent form is mushrooming fast. All leading retail stores Big Bazaar, Subhiksha, Reliance, Easy day market, Needs Supermarket, More, SRS Value Bazaar etc are slowly making huge impact. Shopping in retail stores has its benefits as they are the most convenient place for shopping that saves time and energy of the customers by offering everything under one roof. For the middle class people with higher disposable incomes retails stores are of course a fad.

It's clear that the embedding of particular option:(3) has provided proper meaning to the paragraph.

Q3: (Latest Pattern Question)

Five statements are given below, labelled A, B, C, D and E. Among these, four statements are in logical order and form a coherent paragraph/passage. From the given options, choose the option that does not fit with the other statements in the passage:

A) More than a hundred tigers have reportedly been poached in the past five years, according to a report published by the National Tiger Conservation Authority.
B) According to forest department officials, a team of guards were on routine patrol when they came face to face with a group of poachers around midnight near the Baghmari forest camp.
C) The sudden increase in the number of incidents of tiger poaching across the country is, of course, worrying, but it also begs the question if a sense of complacency has set in among those responsible for the protection of the big cats.
D) The report also underlines that poachers have caused tiger deaths in all 41 tiger reserve forests spread across 17 States in the country.
E) Yet, since the National Tiger Conservation Authority was established in 2005 to manage Project Tiger, the authorities have actually done a fair amount of work to conserve and nurture India’s tiger population which has, in fact, grown steadily in recent years.

Answer: B (According to forest department officials, a team of guards were on routine patrol when they came face to face with a group of poachers around midnight near the Baghmari forest camp.)

Explanation: You have to read the question carefully. 4 sentences have to be chosen and meaningfully they have to be rearranged. Now, the rest sentence i.e. 5th sentence will be the answer. Here, proper rearrangement will be: CADE. So, 'B' is the answer because 'B' is not connected with meaningful paragraph: CADE.

Q5: Comprehension:

The first step is for us to realise that a city need not be a frustrater of life; it can be among other things, a mechanism for enhancing life, for producing possibilities of living which are not to be realized except through cities. But, for that to happen, deliberate and drastic planning is needed. Towns as much as animals, must have their systems of organs-those for transport and circulation are an obvious example. What we need now are organ systems for recreation, leisure, culture, community expression. This means abundance of open space, easy access to unspoilt Nature, beauty in parks and in fine buildings, gymnasia and swimming baths and recreation grounds in planty, central spaces for celebrations and demonstrations, halls for citizens' meetings, concert halls and theatres and cinemas that belong to the city. And the buildings must not be built anyhow or dumped down anywhere; both they and their groupings should mean something important to the people of the place.

Q: A suitable title for the passage would be?
(a) Towns versus Animals.
(b) The Need for Planned Cities.
(c) Transport and Communication System in a City.
(d) The Need for Entertainment Centres in a City.

Answer: (b) The Need for Planned Cities.

Explanation: Please read the paragraph superficially and it will be clear that "The Need for Planned Cities" is the suitable paragraph of the passage.

(D) ”This purse therefore cannot be the one you lost.” And, with that, the judge gave the purse and all the gold to the beggar.
